ORC Collaboration
Attention to detail was crucial to the success of this project. BDA completed a high-end build-out of the top floor of the middle tower of the Eaton Centre to create administrative and meeting/conference space for the Ministry of Development and Trade. The new space provides a venue for important conferences and meetings to encourage investment in Ontario. Four 8’ x 8’ structural steel entry doors, each weighing 2,000 pounds were custom-built and installed. These required extensive structural reinforcement of the floor below, which was within an occupied office space. Work within the occupied space below was completed over a series of evenings, after hours, and the doors had to be fabricated in segments to allow them to be brought to the site by freight elevator.
All work was completed on a construction management basis under tight timelines. The project received Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
